Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then located numerous other marked cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police report preliminary tests indicate the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for information.
An important representative commented the incident left him speechless and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on online, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in 2020.
